Glenn has over 25 years of investment banking and restructuring experience. He has advised over 150 middle market companies in various corporate finance transactions and in that role has developed and implemented innovative capital structures and alternatives to traditional financing methodologies. He was recently the CEO and Investment Banker for a $1.1 Billion troubled container terminal project in Damietta, Egypt, and has also served as CEO of a $180 million food distributor. Glenn has been responsible for managing dozens of transactions, including: mergers & acquisitions leveraged capital transactions, restructurings, Chapter 11 reorganizations and bond exchange offers.
Prior to founding Candlewood Partners, Glenn was the Managing Director and Principal responsible for the Restructuring Practice at Brown, Gibbons, Lang & Co., a middle market investment banking firm. He was also the CEO of one of the country’s largest wholesale meat distributors, a turnaround consultant with a national practice, and a “Big Six” accounting and systems professional. Glenn has served as a director for a number of public and private companies.
Steve has a diverse background with over fifteen years of experience in finance, capital markets, accounting, law and real estate. As the Managing Director of Candlewood Partners LLC, a niche, middle market investment bank, Steve leverages this experience to lead a diverse advisory and investment platform that focuses on capital formation, real estate, intellectual property, and emerging food and beverage businesses.
He has advised his clients and invested across a broad spectrum of opportunities, from sourcing +$100 million in capital for mixed-use developments internationally, to the sale of Fortune 100 world-headquarter facilities, to the recapitalization of +$100 million manufacturing companies. Steve also enjoys investing on his own account in real estate opportunities and emerging growth companies.
Steve most recently co-led the capital markets group for CBRE in Cleveland. Before joining CBRE, he practiced commercial and real estate law for McDonald Hopkins, a Cleveland-based business law firm. He began his career with PwC providing public assurance and advisory services.
Steve received his B.A. from George Washington University, and obtained his J.D. from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
When he is not crunching deal metrics, he is usually training for some crazy athletic competition, like a Tough Mudder or triathlon, and enjoying the workout from keeping up with his 4 young boys and equally active wife Anna.
Brian specializes in intellectual property (IP) monetization strategies, IP licensing, and commercialization. For over 15 years he has worked with both startup and established companies facilitating and negotiating their IP transactions through licensing, sales, and acquisition in a variety of diverse industries in the United States, Asia, and the Indian subcontinent.
Over the years, Brian has also been a principal in several startup companies where he had the opportunity to be involved with IP transactions as both the licensee and licensor — this provides him with a unique perspective in understanding the intricacies of intellectual property transactions from the client’s perspective.
Prior to joining Candlewood, Brian held executive positions with several companies in the following industries: business consulting, wholesale, software development, motion picture, and retail.
Brian received his B.S. in Management with a major in Entrepreneurial Studies and concentration in Management Information Systems from Babson College in Wellesley, MA. He is FINRA licensed (series 7, 63 and 79) and an active member of the Licensing Executives Society (LES). Brian has also served on the Advisory Boards of various start-up and online companies.
Deborah has been with Candlewood Partners since the beginning. She wears many hats, she is the Accounting Manager, HR Manager, and Bookkeeper for not only Candlewood Partners, but three of its entities as well. With all of these jobs, Deborah has many responsibilities, including management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, financials, banking transactions, account reconciliation, payroll, benefits administration, and vendor contacts. She also manages billable time and expense tracking as well as being the point of contact and quarterly reporting to the SBA and NASD.
Prior to joining Candlewood Partners, Deborah was responsible for the general bookkeeping and payroll taxes for Thomas Wilkens CPA, J.W. Sales and Marketing, and Sherwood Food Distributors.
When she’s not at Candlewood, Deborah enjoys hiking, biking, white water rafting, and kayaking.
Natan has over a decade of experience in lending and capital raising, and has spent the majority of his career cultivating relationships with middle market businesses. His transaction experience includes acquisitions, working capital and fixed asset financing, syndicated loans, special situations, and restructurings.
His responsibilities at Candlewood include the creation and distribution of transaction materials, running processes to market opportunities to investors and lenders, managing diligence processes with clients and lenders, and participating in strategic conversations with clients regarding their capital needs.
Natan joined Candlewood after spending seven years in commercial banking at Fifth Third Bank. Most recently Natan was a Relationship Manager, responsible for client engagement, new business development, and risk management across a portfolio of middle market companies in Northeast Ohio.
Natan is actively involved in the Cleveland community. He is the Vice-Chair of the Cleveland Jewish Federation’s Young Leadership Division board, serves on the board of Gross Schechter Day School and the Federation’s Allocations Committee, and is a graduate of Cleveland Bridge Builders, class of 2015.
Natan received his B.S. from The Ohio State University, majoring in Finance and Real Estate & Urban Analysis. Natan subsequently completed his MBA at John Carroll University, with a concentration in Management.
When out of the office, Natan enjoys spending time with his wife Kate and daughters Ellie and Josie. He is a huge Ohio State and Cleveland sports fan and enjoys being active, participating in biking, running, and Tough Mudder events.
As an Associate at Candlewood Partners, Rishi is responsible for building scenario-driven operational and financial valuation models to evaluate the accounting, cash flow and leverage effects of bespoke capital markets transactions. His responsibilities include data modeling and analysis of special situations and VC investment opportunities, as well as conducting business and financial due diligence in collaboration with senior management teams and legal advisors.
Prior to joining Candlewood, Rishi worked as a high yield credit research analyst with a focus on the healthcare sector at a diversified multi-strategy asset management fund in New York. He also worked as an investment banker specializing in M&A and restructuring at Moelis & Company where he completed transactions collectively valued at over $10 billion.
Rishi holds a B.S. in Economics and B.A. in Political Science from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
Grant joined Candlewood Partners after spending nearly three years with KeyBanc Capital Markets at its headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio. During his time at Key, Grant was primarily a member of the Leveraged Finance & Corporate Syndications team, and also spent time with the Consumer & Retail Investment Banking practice.
As a member of the Leveraged Finance & Corporate Syndications team, Grant supported the origination, structuring, and syndication of senior loans for both public and private middle market companies across a wide range of industries. Grant has worked on a variety of transactions including LBOs, dividend recapitalizations, acquisitions, and refinancing. During his tenure, Grant worked on syndicated debt transactions with Key as Left Lead Arranger that ranged in size from approximately $50 million to $1+ billion, and whose aggregate value total $4+ billion. Grant’s responsibilities included the creation of pitch materials, creation of transaction marketing materials, financial due diligence, and coordination of transaction closing processes.
Grant earned a B.S. in Business from the University of Denver with a major in Finance and minors in Accounting and Spanish. Grant also received his MBA from the University of Denver with a focus on Finance.
While out of the office, Grant enjoys an active lifestyle consisting of working out, snowboarding, tennis, and his favorite of all, golf, where he continues to compete at his local golf club. You can also find Grant appreciating live music at local venues in Cleveland and occasionally traveling across international borders to see his favorite bands perform.
As an Office/Executive Assistant at Candlewood Partners, Sarah is primarily responsible for managing much of the day-to-day operations of the office. This includes managing Candlewood’s CRM database, excel data tracking, compiling monthly review binders, scheduling, international correspondence, website management, onboarding new employees, as well as organizing and executing the firm’s marketing and communications efforts. She grew up in Akron, Ohio, where she attended the University of Akron and graduated with a B.A. in History. Sarah has had a hand in a variety of roles in administration throughout her career in both the advertising and business management sectors as well as in the public sector.
Prior to coming to Candlewood, Sarah most notably worked as court staff secretarial bailiff for a well-respected sitting Common Pleas Judge. Sarah is an avid outdoors enthusiast and theatergoer. She loves to hike, bike, and kayak, spend time with her family, travel, as well as attend yearly the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Canada and attend the Ohio Shakespeare Festival at Stan Hywet each summer.
Matt joined Candlewood Partners in 2018, after spending one year in the Corporate and Institutional Banking Development Program at PNC Financial Services. While there, he was a member of the Middle-Market and Commercial Credit Products Group team in Cleveland, Ohio. Matt’s responsibilities included credit analysis, preparation of internal documents, and creation of marketing materials.
When he is not in the office, Matt enjoys golfing, traveling, fly-fishing and rooting for his favorite Detroit sports teams and the Michigan Wolverines.
Matt holds a B.S. in Finance from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
